The subtle coloration of the Wilson's Snipe was achieved using acrylic paints of burnt sienna, burnt umber, raw umber and yellow ochre applied in thin washes until desired coloring was obtained. 

The Snipe are attached to brass rods, bent and painted to resemble tall grasses. The leaves are painted, lacquer coated paper.
